Find Comfort with Vanilla Chai and Biscotti

Bath and body works Cup of Warmth: Vanilla Chai and Biscotti

The name captured my attention.  The heavenly aroma captivated my senses and the silky caress comforted my body. This body wash from Bath and Body Works made me do things no other body wash has made me do before……

I baked cookies…..from scratch. I bought $12 spices.  I simmered tea with these spices and even dipped my cookie!  Heaven forbid, I offered my body wash to my husband.  Crazy talk, I know!

After I purchased a few body washes at Bath and Body Works, I just HAD to sample this one in particular. Cup of Warmth: Vanilla Chai and Biscotti.  I had planned on saving it for closer to Christmas or maybe even giving it as a gift.  But I was weak!  The name pulled me in at the store and it lured me back when I was at home.

The Vanilla Chai and Biscotti body wash is everything that is right with the world and nothing that is not.  After my first delectable bath, I offered a sample-sized portion for my husband to try.

“You have got to try this!” I said with my eyes still a glaze. “But just a little”, I recoiled while I still had my wits about me.

The following day, I was googling recipes and raiding my spice racks for the priceless booty.

“I just can’t get you outta my head….la la la la la la la la” I sang as I scoured the spice aisle in the store.  A cringe at the $12 price tag of ground cardamom, was quickly replaced with a mischievous grin as I hid the spice between my mini chocolate chips and caramel sauce.  It will be our little secret, no one needs to know I’m buying some spice I’ve never heard of, for some tea I may not like. Shhhhh!

“Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming.” Keeping my cool, I hum to myself as the cashier scans my groceries. She didn’t even flinch at the $12  mini glass jar. I suppose SOME people buy such luxurious spices all of the time.

I greedily put my groceries in the car and wipe the drool from my mouth at the thought of what delicacies are yet to come.

“I just can’t get you outta my head….la la la la la la la la”, I sing again driving home.

Here is the recipe  I used for my HOMEMADE-  FROM SCRATCH chocolate chip biscotti. Miss In The Kitchen

Chocolate chip biscottiIt takes some time, so be patient.  Afterall, biscotti is a cookie that is cooked twice.  It is perfect for dipping in coffee, vanilla chai tea or milk.  Just look at these pictures.

Chocolate chip biscotti

If you must know, yes I did sample some before I popped them back in the oven for their 2nd baking phase and yes it was good.  Finally, after the 2nd baking of the chocolate chip-ridden delight, I began making the tea. Excuse me….the Vanilla Chai.

I found the recipe here. Mom on Timeout

Vanilla chai

I used the Vanilla Chai with Caramel recipe.  I measured the spices. I simmered the spices.  I boiled the tea.  I smelled the heavenly chai.

Finally, the tea was ready.  My kitchen smelled nearly as good as the Vanilla Chai body wash.  I admired my biscotti once again.  I inhaled a deep breath from my cup of Vanilla Chai.  After a few dips in caramel, a few nibbles of biscotti and a few sips of tea, I decided to take myself for a dip……in the tub of course.

The Vanilla Chai tea with caramel was well worth the $12 spice.  The chocolate chip biscotti was the best biscotti I have ever had. The Vanilla Chai body wash from Bath and Body Works was just as good as I remembered.  Sitting in the bathtub with all of these sweet delights, I feel inspired again….. to take a longer bath.

Enjoy your bath,

Bath and Body Works Visit

image

I just can’t help myself. I may really have an addiction.  I can tell myself that I was just looking for Christmas gifts. I mean I have 5 sisters, several neices and nephews  (who’s counting ) and lots of in-laws and of course parents,  a spouse and 2 kids. (Geez, that’s alot to buy for.)

But anyway, I can claim to have walked into Bath and Body Works to buy for family.  But who am I kidding?   They all claim to take baths or even showers (LOL) but I am the one who LOVES bathtime.

So yes, I did buy these beauties for myself. In fact, I just sampled one of them. Immediately I became inspired for a new post.

So brace yourself. Check back frequently. Be prepared to be amazed. Well, maybe not amazed but hopefully inspired or entertained.

Visit a Bath and Body Works store and think of me….better yet, buy me something.

OMG You Just Turned 16!

Happy Sweet 16Everyone has different ways of celebrating their 16th birthday. Some with a smashing party, some by getting their driver’s permit and hitting the road and some with a pampering evening.  Considering I am a lover of all things bath, I would want to be pampered in a sweet, relaxing bath created just for me.

My youngest sister is celebrating her Sweet 16 today so I am dedicating this post to her.  I can only imagine that she would want to relax after her long school day, the overload of “I can’t believe you are 16″s and the struggle of cramming for today’s tests. (P.S. I hope you got an A)

Let’s start the pampering with a slice of cake. Not any cake though. Your OMG I just turned 16!!! cake.
Birthday cake

Now we need music.  It might be just me, but I would start with a Taylor Swift CD.  T.S. 1989 to be more specific…….ummmm didn’t someone buy you this CD recently?

T.S. 1989 Taylor Swift

Ok. Time for the pampering. You are gonna have to do a little work first.  You need to set up your bathroom for your own sweet 16 bath experience. Sorry Hun.

If you just happen to have a bunch of beautiful flowers, I suggest you take them with you.  What about balloons? Have any of them? Take them also.

Bring your music……uuuuummmmmm………Taylor Swift will do.

Sit the flowers where you can admire them from the tub. Don’t you just love roses? Tie the balloons to the bath faucet or let them loose to float above you.  Get that music playing where you can really hear it…..away from the tub. …I ‘m your big sister so I can boss you around!

Now you have some contemplating to do.  I just happen to know that you received Bath and Body Works Sweet Pea bodywash.  You also received 2 adorably awesome mini cupcake bath bombs.

Hold the phone!   I know what you are thinking.  But Jesica, you also bought me 2 LUSH bath bombs!  Yog Nog and Butterball.  Well my dear, you have some deciding to do.

Sweet 16 bath

Any choice is a good choice. Heck if it were me I would go with the Yog Nog bath bomb. Stand back and admire its beauty as you fill up the tub.  Be sure to take in all of the toffee aroma…..how sweet is that?

I would sit that little cupcake bath bomb on my tub’s edge just to admire its cuteness.  After I relaxed in my sweet bath, I would use that Sweet Pea bodywash to feel extra pampered and extra sweet.

No matter what bath product you use remember to sit back, relax, sing along with Taylor Swift (or whoever you picked), admire your flowers and celebrate the fact that:

YOU ARE SIXTEEN TODAY!!!!!

Life can get stressful, school can be frustrating and time never goes fast enough when you are a teen.  Just remember to be true to yourself, that you are in charge of your own destiny and a hot bath can solve many problems of the day.

Happy birthday!

How to Pamper Yourself, Without the Guilt

pamper yourselfI’m a firm believer that your personal happiness is dependent only upon yourself.  You have the power to create happy, indulgent, pampering experiences.  I, for one, prefer to be happy and I have no problem with and feel no guilt for making it happen.

I love flowers and do truly appreciate when my husband brings them home, BUT I am fully capable of buying them for myself.  They are no less beautiful if I am the one who purchases them.  So when I spotted these dozen peach roses sitting sadly in a clearance bin by themselves, I knew today was a good day to pamper myself.

peach rosesSo for all of you tightwads out there, and those of you who feel guilty about spending money on flowers or yourself (stop that!), remember to check the clearance bins at your local grocer.  These beauties were only $3.50.  I love them as much, or more actually, than if they were $100 roses.

While I was already shopping for myself, I went ahead and bought a new box of chocolates.  I am a sucker for anything chocolate.  These were  a little pricier than I usually get, but who am I kidding? I am pampering myself today! If you already have grapes on hand, by all means rinse them off and slowly feed them to yourself as if you were the queen of Egypt.  You really don’t have to make a special purchase just for yourself.  If you put a little effort into the items you are already buying, you can make them feel special with no guilt attached.

chocolatesgrapesOnce home, I made a playlist on my phone to listen to as I pampered myself with chocolates and grapes, smelling and admiring my peach roses.  I downloaded a few of the top 50 pop songs from Billboard.com.  I started with Adele’s Hello.  I’m sure you didn’t see that one coming did you?  Okay, so I listened to it a few times…in a row.  Here are a few songs on my Pamper Me playlist:

pamper me playlistAfter a few repeats of Adele’s “Hello” and Demi Lovato’s “Confident” I am ready for my drink.  Since I am pampering myself I make my all time favorite alcoholic beverage.  It doesn’t taste a bit like alcohol, therefore it is potent, perfect and pampering.

It is called Liquid Marijuana.  Here’s the recipe:

Liquid Marijuana

  • 1.5 ounce Captain Morgan Spiced Rum
  • 1.5 ounce Blue Curacao liqueur
  • 1.5 ounce Malibu Coconut Rum
  • 1.5 ounce Midori Melon Liqueur
  •  6 ounces Pineapple Juice

Pour all ingredients in a tall glass or shaker, top with more pineapple juice if you deem necessary. Shake vigourously.  Serve in an awesome glass. Drink slowly.

Here is a recipe for a non-alcoholic beverage with ingredients you probably already have at home. Served in an elegant glass, you will feel like Cinderella herself.

Cinderella:

  • 3 ounces pineapple juice
  • 3 ounces orange juice
  • lime or lemon wedges

Mix the liquids together with ice in a shaker or large glass.  Pour slowly into a fancy glass. Garnish with lime or lemon wedges.

Time for a long soak in the tub.  Don’t forget your drink and your music.

Obviously, I brought my roses along also.  I lit a few candles around the sink and on the edge of the bathtub.  Not only do I like to pamper myself but I guess I’m good at romancing myself as well. LOL

I’m treating myself with Lush’s Lord of Misrule bath bomb today.  Partly because it’s green and matches my drink and partly because I know what this bomb is capable of…I’ve seen videos.

Lush Lord of MisruleCue Adele.  Let the water run. Watch the magic happen.  Take another sip.

Lush Lord of MisruleYou can use whatever bath product you have at home.  I realize some bath products these days are quite pricey, but I urge you to splurge on yourself every once in a while.  You deserve it!

From my bath to yours, I hope you have enjoyed today’s post.  I hope that you, too, take the time to pamper yourself, enjoy a long hot bath, and realize that you have all the power to make yourself happy.  Don’t wait for someone to do it for you!
